Since opening our doors in 2001, Alternate Icons has become one of the best places in SW Ontario to shop for comics and collectibles.
On any given day, you'll find owner (and resident comic book geek) Dan Coelho working behind the counter. Occasionally found at the store, too, are Dan's siblings Mike and Sandra. We are all more than happy to spend some time discussing comics, games and pop culture in general.
Our goal at Alternate Icons is to provide a fun, relaxed shopping experience for every member of the family. If we don't have what you need in stock, we're more than happy to try and track it down for you. Hope to see you soon!
Every Wednesday we welcome a shipment of new comics from Diamond Comic Distributors. Since items are generally ordered a minimum of two months in advance of shipping, we suggest that you check their website regularly for shipping lists. We also receive merchandise from other suppliers on a regular basis. If you don't see sometihng in store and would like us to order it in for you, just give us a shout!
Special Orders
We accept special orders from all of our customers. Simply let us know which item you would like us to order and drop off a 25% deposit. Balance is due upon pick-up of the item.
Please note that we will make every attempt to contact you when your item arrives. If we cannot reach you or if you fail to pick-up your item within a reasonable time frame (one month unless otherwise arranged), your item will be put out for sale and your deposit forgeited. If for any reason the item you order is not available, we will contact you immediately and offer a full refund of your deposit.
We also ask that you send us any Previews orders before the end of the current month. Most Previews items are solicited at least two months in advance, so be prepared to wait for your items. Late order may be subject to a processing fee or items might not be available. Please contact the store for details.
Comics Club Members
Sign up for our pulling service and we will set aside your favourite comic books for you each week. All we ask is that you pick them up on a regular basis or let us know if you won't be in for awhile. That way, you'll never miss an issue! Not only is it FREE to join, but you'll save on almost all your comic purchases.
Club members automatically save 15% off the regular purchase price for comics! Customers who order more than 20 comics per month also get a FREE Diamond Previews magazine (upon request). We're trying to save trees so will only order one for you if you really want it. Otherwise, there are always copies kicking around the store that you can peruse when you drop in.
Gift Certificates
Have a comic book aficionado or gaming guru on your shopping list and have no idea what to get them? Just pop into the store and purchase a gift certificate! Available in any denomination and at any time of the year, gift certificates are the perfect solution for those hard to buy for people on your list.
